We are very proud to announce that TAM student, Michelle Offik, was recently awarded a 2015-2016 Fulbright U.S. Student Award to Germany. Michelle is currently in Europe. She interned at Atlantic-community.org from January to March of this year and is currently studying at the Humboldt University, Berlin. She describes her Fulbright project below.

“Narrowing the lens on language programs in relation to implementation of national integration policy, I seek to understand what makes language programs effective for Turkish spouses in Germany. Focusing on the community in Berlin, four components will be assessed for effectiveness: cost (as a financial and time commitment); administration (publicly state-funded versus private programs); location (accessibility by district and network); and course content (intercultural component, administrator expectations, and feedback from community).”

In addition to the TAM coursework at Humboldt in which Michelle will be engaged next year, she will also take Turkish-language training.
