On March 2 and 3, TAM students, along with those from the Global MA Program and the Department of Asian and Middle East Studies (DAMES), took part in the inaugural Global Graduate-Student Symposium at UNC-CH. The event focused on democracy’s decline, featured a keynote address by Professor Urban Strandberg from the University of Gothenburg and included presentations from graduate students across the three MA programs.

We are very proud of TAM students – Sinan Arda, Cate Small, and Daniela Liberatore – all members of the TAM Class of 2024. Sinan served as conference organizer. Daniela’s presentation was called “Conditionality and the safeguarding of the rule of law in the European Union.” Cate gave a talked entitled “Pandemic Backsliding and the European Union.” In the afternoon on March 3rd, Professor Strandberg made time to meet with the TAM students heading to Gothenburg to study next year.
