Sarah Hutchison, PhD
Associate Director, TransAtlantic Masters Program
Sarah Hutchison has served as TAM Associate Director since 2002. She has overseen 17 TAM classes, and worked with eleven partner sites in Europe. Dr. Hutchison enjoys helping TAM students choose the courses, internship and job opportunities, and European partner sites that best fit their interests. She earned her PhD in Comparative Literature from UNC in 2003.


John D. Stephens
Director, TransAtlantic Masters Program & Center for European Studies
John D. Stephens is the director of the Center for European Studies (CES), which houses the TransAtlantic Masters Program at UNC-CH. He is also Gerhard E. Lenski, Jr., Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Sociology at UNC-CH. Professor Stephens has served as director of both the TAM Program and CES since 2005. He teaches POLI 745, Varieties of Capitalism, and has taught every TAM cohort except one since the program’s inception in 1999.
Katie Shanahan Lindner

Katie Shanahan Lindner oversees the daily operations of the Center for European Studies. She also serves as the advisor for Contemporary European Studies majors, many of whom enter either the dual BA-MA program with TAM, or apply for TAM while completing the major. Katie is an alum of the first TAM class in 1999, and went on to work in Germany for sixteen years after studying at TAM’s partner site Humboldt University in Berlin.
